CAPACITY BUILDING AND INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR YOUTH CRIME PREVENTION IN MANGAUNG METRO DISTRICT

On 15 June 2026, the Mangaung Metro District Youth Crime Prevention Committee effectively organized a Youth Crime Prevention Capacity Building and Induction Programme at Van Stadensrus Community Hall.
This event gathered Youth Crime Prevention Desks from station, district, and provincial levels, along with facilitators and representatives from all 21 police stations within the Mangaung Metro District.
The programme was managed by the Mangaung Metro District Youth Crime Prevention Coordinator, Sargent Mothamane, alongside the District Crime Prevention Officer (CPO), Sargent Lesibe, ensuring that all participants gained essential knowledge, skills, and leadership tools to enhance crime prevention efforts.
The event began with an opening prayer and scripture reading, followed by the singing of the National Anthem led by the Provincial Youth Crime Prevention Coordinator, Sargent Chabalala.
Delegates were welcomed by Sargent Adoro, and Matshego Mekoa, the District Youth Treasurer, who introduced all guests and participants.
Key presentations were delivered by facilitators including Sargent Chabalala (Provincial Youth Crime Prevention Coordinator), Mr. Lala (Provincial Youth Crime Prevention Chairperson), Sargent Phutsisi (Thabo Mofutsanyana District), Sargent Malindi (Lejweleputswa District), Warrant Officer Matsapole (Fezile Dabi District), and D.K. Maruping (Provincial Youth Crime Prevention Public Relations Officer).
Their contributions focused on leadership development, patriotic education, the Youth Crime Prevention Code of Conduct, aligning mission and vision, and responsible social media use.
Certificates of Appreciation were given to all participants to acknowledge their dedication to youth development and crime prevention.
After the induction programme concluded, the Van Stadensrus SAPS team officially launched its inaugural Youth Crime Prevention Desk, marking a significant step in strengthening youth structures at the station level.
The newly established desk, along with all attendees, also received certificates recognizing their participation and commitment.
The programme successfully met its goals and reinforced SAPS’ dedication to empowering young people as partners in creating safer and more resilient communities throughout the Mangaung Metro District.
