FIVE SUSPECTS APPEARED BEFORE ZASTRON MAGISTRATE COURT FACING MURDER CHARGE

Five suspects, aged between 19 and 35, appeared in Zastron Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, facing a murder charge.

They joined another suspect, aged 29, who was charged with attempted murder.

This is related to a group fight incident in Zastron.

On Sunday, 21/06, at 09:23, police responded to a report of people fighting in public.

Upon their arrival, Emergency Medical Service personnel at the scene indicated a man in an ambulance with injuries who was unable to speak.

The victim, Mojalefa Tshupane (36) from Ezibeleni location, Matlakeng in Zastron, had an open head wound and could not be questioned.

It was further reported that on the same Sunday, around 09:23, the deceased, Lereng Mofana, went to Tshupane's house, who was his neighbour.

They had a prolonged argument before Mofana, the deceased, stabbed Tshupane, his neighbour, in the head with a knife.

It was also reported that the five suspects who appeared in Zastron Magistrate Court are friends of Tshupane and were retaliating for his assault.

They pursued Mofana and confronted him at the scene in Ezibeleni, Matlakeng, Zastron.

They attacked him by striking him with knobkieries before fatally stabbing him. Mofana was declared dead at the scene.

The five suspects are Tshokolo James (30), Makhosonke James (19), Lucky Moiloa (35), Phakiso Ndawule (20), and Kabelo Moeti (19).

The murder case has been postponed to 01/06 for bail information, while the attempted murder case against Thabo Nyofane has been postponed to 08/06 for a formal bail application.

All six suspects remain in custody.
