FREE STATE EMERGENCY SERVICES ASSESS PREPAREDNESS IN AIRPORT SIMULATION DRILL

On Thursday, 25 June 2026, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and various emergency response stakeholders took part in a comprehensive simulation exercise at Bram Fischer International Airport.

This exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure operational readiness and to identify and address any shortcomings in emergency response plans.

Regular simulation exercises are crucial for preparing all relevant stakeholders to respond effectively and efficiently to any incidents that may occur at an airport.

The simulation allowed participating agencies to test emergency procedures, communication systems, coordination mechanisms, and response capabilities in realistic conditions.

It also enabled participants to pinpoint areas needing improvement and refine existing protocols to ensure a seamless response during actual emergencies.

Participants in the exercise included the South African Police Service, Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), the Fire Department, Disaster Management, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Busamed Hospital, and private emergency medical personnel.

The exercise was successfully conducted and concluded without any incidents or challenges.

The cooperation and professionalism shown by all participating agencies greatly contributed to the success of the operation.
