Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae has urged the Glen community to remain calm and let the legal process unfold, following the discovery of the body of five-year-old Onkarabetse Leew in the bush by police today.
She emphasised that, despite the community's pain, taking the law into one's own hands cannot be justified.
Onkarabetse disappeared on November 8, 2025, just four days after the funeral of his cousin Katleho Leeuw, who also passed away under mysterious circumstances.
The police made a grim discovery when they found Onkarabetse’s body hidden under a box in the bushes on the outskirts of the area.
He was located four days after being reported missing.
A family member, his aunt, has been charged with his kidnapping and murder and is set to appear in court soon.
Premier Letsoha-Mathae expressed her concern over the fact that two related children have died in similar ways.
“The deaths of the two children are indeed troubling. They died under similar circumstances in quick succession, and both their uncle and aunt have been charged with their deaths. I have spoken with the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, to assign her best detectives to these cases so we can uncover what happened. We cannot allow our children to be murdered so callously, and I wish to thank the police for their swift action in arresting the two suspects,” said Premier Letsoha-Mathae.
The Premier has called for calm in the Glen community, assuring that the state will present a strong case in court, aiming for the conviction of the two suspects.
