MAN DETAINED FOR SUSPECTED MURDER OF A 7-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN BULTFONTEIN

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and rape.

This follows the discovery of the body of a 7-year-old victim beneath a bed in a shack in Bultfontein.

On Sunday, 9 August 2026, police were called to a murder scene in the Phahameng area of Bultfontein.

Upon arrival, they were led to a shack.

There, they found the lifeless body of the young female victim.

The victim was discovered with her pants down and had neck injuries.

Emergency medical services personnel declared her dead.

According to reports, the deceased was found by her 14-year-old sister, who noticed a hand protruding from under the bed.

She quickly informed her father, who was in the main house.

Police were contacted following this discovery.

Initial investigations were promptly carried out, leading to the suspect being located at a nearby farm.

He was then arrested for murder and rape.

The 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Bultfontein Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
