Tshemedi Lucas Mkhwane has been appointed acting Municipal Manager of Mohokare Local Municipality.

He takes over from the former acting municipal manager, Mopedi Mohale.

Gogta has appointed Mkhwane to a three-month term to support the struggling Mohokare Municipality.

He is highly recommended due to his educational achievements and experience in local governance.

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from the University of South Africa (UNISA), a Programme in Management and Development (Municipal Finance) from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), a Programme in Project Management from the University of Pretoria and has completed a master's degree in business leadership (MBL) with the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Mkhwane is a teacher by profession and taught for ten years, focusing on Mathematics and Physical Science from 1987 to 1997.

In 1998, he entered Local Government and served as Chief Executive Officer (Town Clerk) until 2000.

Following the 2000 Municipal Elections and the merging of the then disestablished Transitional Local Councils, he became the Director of Corporate Services at Setsoto Local Municipality until 2008.

In 2009, he was appointed Municipal Manager at Xhariep District Municipality, and from April 2013, he served as the Municipal Manager of Tswelopele Local Municipality.

In December 2017, he rejoined Letsemeng Local Municipality as the Municipal Manager.

Mkhwane is among the longest-serving senior managers in Local Government, having gained extensive experience in the field.

He attributes his success to humility, strong interpersonal relationships, pragmatism, and seeking God's guidance in all his endeavours.

Gogta will also reveal the appointment of a new CFO for the Municipality, aimed at helping to restore dignity and order in one of the country's most troubled municipalities.

This new appointment seeks to improve service delivery and restore the dignity of the people of Mohokare, who have been let down for years due to the Municipality's deteriorating condition in recent years.
