OFF-DUTY MEMBERS OF MANGAUNG METRO TASK TEAM ARREST DRUG DEALER AT THABA NCHU TAXI RANK

On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, off-duty members from the Mangaung Metro District Operational Command Centre (DOCC) East Task Team acted promptly on a tip-off.

The information indicated that an adult male was allegedly selling drugs at the Thaba Nchu taxi rank.

The team quickly mobilised and headed to the bustling transit location.

Upon arrival, they identified a male who matched the provided description.

With tactical precision, the officers approached and apprehended the suspect.

A thorough search of his person resulted in the discovery and confiscation of:

Several ziplock bags containing crushed Mandrax.

Small ziplock bags containing khat drugs.

An undisclosed amount of cash found in a small bag, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was also seized.

The 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody immediately.

He is charged with drug dealing and is expected to appear in the Thaba Nchu Magistrate’s Court soon.

The police continue to eliminate opportunities for criminal activities, even when officers are off duty.
