51-YEAR-OLD MAN FACES COURT FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND RAPE CHARGES

A 51-year-old suspect is set to appear in the Rouxville Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of attempted murder and rape.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after the victim reported the incident to the Rouxville police in the morning, prompting a swift arrest.

The 50-year-old complainant, who is also the victim, claims that on 13 June 2026, she was drinking at her neighbor’s house from 14:00.

As night fell, she decided to return home to sleep, as she was already intoxicated.

She further claims that upon arriving, she entered her house and went straight to bed without locking the door.

She reported that around 20:30, about 30 minutes after her arrival, someone opened the door.

She said she looked up to see who it was and saw the suspect. She asked him what he wanted in her home.

According to her, he replied, "kgale ke batlana le wena," meaning I've been looking for you for a very long time.

The suspect then strangled her, dragged her from one bed to another, undressed her, and raped her before leaving the house.

The complainant reported that she waited until daylight to report the incident.

All relevant parties were notified, and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
