FAKE TEKKIES VALUED AT OVER R430 000 CONFISCATED IN BLOEMFONTEIN CBD

In an ongoing initiative to eliminate counterfeit and illegal goods from the streets, the Free State Provincial Illicit Goods Task Team, along with the Search and Rescue: Diving Unit, Provincial Emergency Service, Corporate Communication and Liaison, under the leadership of Colonel Aletta Molefe from the Inspectorate, carried out a search and seizure warrant as part of the Safer Festive Season Operation Shanela II - POCC Intervention.
The operation took place on 16 October 2026, from 09:45 to 16:00.
During this operation, a search warrant was executed at Dealers in Shoes & Clothing on St Georges Street in the Bloemfontein Central Business District.
A total of 508 pairs of counterfeit sneakers were seized, with an estimated street value of R431,800.00.
The seized items carry the names of well-known brands.
An enquiry docket has been opened at Parkweg for a violation of the Counterfeit Goods Act 37 of 1997, and the investigation will be conducted collaboratively by the police and brand experts.
