HUSBAND DETAINED FOR SUSPECTED MURDER OF WIFE IN GRASSLANDS THREE

The quick action by Bloemspruit police resulted in the prompt arrest of a 38-year-old suspect related to the alleged murder of his wife in Grasslands Three, Bloemfontein.

The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

Around 19:10, Bloemspruit police responded to a report of a suspected murder at a local residence.

When they arrived, officers encountered a tenant living on the property.

It is reported that the tenant came home to find the 38-year-old husband highly intoxicated and asleep outside the house.

The tenant then entered the main house and found the 38-year-old woman lying on the bed, covered with blankets, with blood visible around her mouth.

Emergency Medical Services and the police were immediately called to the location.

Upon examination, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation showed visible marks on her neck, indicating possible strangulation.

It was also determined that the couple’s children were on holiday at the time of the incident.

The 38-year-old husband was arrested on the spot and charged with murder.

Police strongly condemned all forms of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) and stated that a thorough investigation will be carried out to ensure justice is served.

The suspect is expected to appear soon in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge.
