The Matla Tourism Youth Organisation is set to proudly host its 6th annual Lucas Majozi commemoration event on the notable date of 2 October 2026.
This event is more than just a date on the calendar; it is a heartfelt tribute honouring the remarkable life and legacy of Lucas Majozi, a heroic soldier born in Zastron.
Majozi is admired for his unwavering dedication and sacrifice during the challenging times of the Second World War, when he fought bravely for his country, embodying the spirit of courage and patriotism.
His story serves as an inspiring reminder of the bravery shown by many individuals who fought for freedom and justice during a time of global conflict.
The event organiser, Molahlehi Lechoo, expressed his enthusiasm and pride in announcing that this year's commemoration marks a significant milestone in the history of the Matla Tourism Youth Organisation.
The importance of this year is further highlighted by the recent launch of the first digital museum in Zastron, which aims to preserve and showcase the rich historical narratives and cultural artefacts associated with the town and its notable figures, including Majozi.
The digital museum serves as an innovative platform for education and engagement, allowing visitors and locals to explore Zastron's heritage in a modern and accessible format.
Lechoo emphasised that the Lucas Majozi commemoration event is not only a celebration of the life of this remarkable individual but also a broader celebration of the town's rich history. It highlights the heritage and diverse culture of the people of Zastron, bringing together community members, historians, and visitors to reflect on their past and acknowledge the contributions of those who have come before them.
The event will feature various activities, including speeches, cultural performances, and exhibitions, all designed to foster a sense of pride and unity among the attendees.
Through this commemoration, the Matla Tourism Youth Organisation aims to inspire future generations to appreciate their roots and understand the value of their shared history.
