Three suspects, two men and a woman aged 22, 25, and 27, are set to appear in the Zastron Magistrate's Court on charges of robbery using a weapon other than a firearm.

This follows an incident that took place in front of Dr Zondo's surgery on Khumalo Street, Zastron.

On Wednesday, 22 October 2026, at 20:00, a 23-year-old complainant reported going to a tavern at Old Location for drinks.

Upon arrival, he sat with Karabo and drank alcohol with him.

Around 22:05, he felt tired and decided to head home alone.

While on his way, nearing his residence, he was approached from behind by three individuals.

One of them claimed they were looking for him, but he responded that they might be mistaken, as he did not know them.

He was able to recognise one of them who was familiar to him.

The suspect grabbed his clothes while the other two repeatedly assaulted him with fists and kicks.

They then searched him and took his blue and black Samsung Galaxy A06 cellphone valued at R2 100-00, a black K-Way hat, cash, and a savings account card before fleeing.

The victim further mentioned that he went home and slept as he had no phone to contact the police.

The next morning, he went to the police station to report the incident.

A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the three suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
