Zastron, a town rich in history and culture, recently marked a significant milestone in preserving its heritage.

The Matla Tourism Youth Organization, led by Molahlehi Lechoo, partnered with the Free State Department of Sports & Culture to celebrate International Museum Day by launching the town’s first digital museum.

This event not only honoured the legacy of Lucas Majozi but also introduced a new way for residents and visitors to engage with local history.

The digital museum represents a fresh approach to heritage preservation in Zastron.

Unlike traditional museums housed in physical buildings, this digital platform offers easy access to historical artefacts, stories, and educational content online.

This innovation opens doors for people who may not be able to visit a museum in person, whether due to distance, mobility, or time constraints.

Matla Tourism Youth Organization’s leadership recognized the need to blend technology with culture.

Their goal is to eventually establish a physical museum building, catering to those who prefer the traditional museum experience.

For now, the digital museum serves as a dynamic space where history comes alive through multimedia presentations, photographs, and interactive exhibits.
