EMPOWERING THE FUTURE: MOHOKARE MAYORAL CAREER EXHIBITION FOR MATRICULANTS

The transition from high school to higher education can be difficult, particularly for students in rural areas.

In response to this, Mayor Teboho Mochechepa of Mohokare Local Municipality made a significant effort to assist the matriculants of the Mohokare class of 2026.

The Mayoral Career Exhibition, held at Zastron’s Lere-la-Thuto Hall, gathered government bodies and educational stakeholders to offer vital information and opportunities for matriculants.

The exhibition aimed to connect matriculants with resources that support their continued education beyond high school.

Many students encounter challenges such as lack of information, financial difficulties, and limited career guidance access.

By organizing this event, the municipality sought to lessen these barriers and make career and study options more accessible.

Key government institutions, including the Free State Office of the Premier and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), were represented.

These organizations are crucial in aiding students through bursaries, learnerships, and other financial opportunities.

Their presence enabled students to ask questions directly and understand the application procedures.

Dr. Moitshepi Lipholo, the program director, began the event with a brief history lesson on June 16, a date significant in South Africa’s fight for educational equality.

This historical context aimed to inspire the youth and remind them of the sacrifices made for their educational rights.

It was a powerful moment, encouraging students to value their education and pursue success.

Mayor Teboho Mochechepa addressed the class of 2026 with a heartfelt speech.

He recognized the challenges many students face at home and in their communities, but urged them to persevere.

His message was clear: "Success is possible regardless of circumstances if learners remain focused and committed to their studies."
