The councillor for Ward 7 in Mohokare Local Municipality, Thabiso Nai, held a sectoral meeting with Ward 7 residents in Khotsong on Tuesday (yesterday), providing feedback on project developments.

The rollout engagement started last week, on Thursday, the 6th, and will continue until next Tuesday.

Residents were updated about the issuing of residential sites at the new development location, which will follow next year.

The councillor informed them about the change of deceased accounts.

Residents were allowed to engage the councillor as he was making his presentation by either raising their grievances or making submissions.

Councillor Nai assured the residents of Ward 7 that no one will be left behind in the new development of sites if they go and register for a site.

He urged those who haven't registered to visit their nearest municipal office and register.

"Those who have yet to register for the sites at the municipal office will need to go as soon as possible. Even those who registered when the Human Settlement department graced our town will still need to go to the municipal office and check if their names appear on the system. If it doesn't, don't be deterred, but register again. No one will be left behind in this process; the municipality is doing all it can to rectify what transpired at Extension 10", said Nai.

He also noted that residents will have to come forward and change the accounts of deceased people, since their debts will be wiped off the system.

The new beneficiaries will inherit the account on a clean slate and change it under their own details.

Grievances were raised with the councillor about blocked stormwater systems in Khotsong, residents fear that during the underway rainy season, floods might be imminent.

The councillor stated that he has already initiated unblocking the stormwater systems, and he will visit other affected areas today.
